Buildathon - Building an AI workforce for the Charity Sector

Stuart interviews a variety of participants at an AI focused Buildathon with charities. At the event hosted by 42London, Stuart hears from students, charities, AI mentors and 42London all about their plans to build a virtuous mix where students are paired with expert mentors, and charities to help those organisations develop AI products. [note - on a couple of interviews, there is poor sound quality - apologies, I was trying out a new microphone designed for noisy environments that didn't work so well!]

Buildathon - Building an AI workforce for the Charity Sector

42London Buildathon - Creating Skilled AI workforces for the 3rd Sector

Out today, we have a new episode of the Virtue & Virtuosity podcast.

In this episode we are live at a Buildathon hosted by 42 London . The Buildathon provides a chance to bring together charities, expert AI mentors, and Tech students to develop AI products that further their cause.

There is a very neat triangle of benefit that results from this initiative, where students from 42London and the Lafosse Academy work with expert mentors in AI, and charities that want to trial product development in AI-related products - all groups benefit.

We hear from Bronwyn Kunhardt, and Bahareh Fatemi, CNP from 42 London who explain what the Buildathon is trying to achieve. We then feature interview with students, an AI mentor from Anthropic, and also participants from CHAYN, The Smallpeice Trust and Friends of the Earth.

The episode is great for hearing about case studies on how the charities are trying to innovate with AI - from Friends of the Earth developing how AI can help people connect on a human level, to Chayn developing products to use AI to help generate letters and documents. Listen to the podcast for more including British Red Cross. Further info can also be found on 42 London’s website.
